WTA Tennis

The recipient of this year’s WTA Award is Pam Hammond.  Pam has worked tirelessly promoting and building tennis programs throughout greater Fond du Lac.  Her enthusiasm and love for the sport of tennis along with her dedication to the community, its youth and adult players has been the driving force for the success and growth of programming and participation.

Pam is currently serving as the President of the Fond du Lac Tennis Association.  She has coordinated and built grass root programming as well as strengthened existing programs.  She has played a key role in introducing area youth to tennis through schools, Rallyball, QuickStart Tennis and USTA Junior Team Tennis.  She worked with the school district to bring tennis assemblies to 10 area elementary schools and introduce tennis to the physical education programs.  Over 3500 students have been exposed to tennis and introduced to Rapid Rally Junior Olympic skills tests through her guidance and direction.
With diligence and dedication, Pam has started and managed the Junior Team Tennis Program.  This year, she organized 63 teams representing an increase in participation from 275 participants to 514.  In addition, she started the first traveling Junior Team Tennis Program for 12 and 14 advanced players.  Her contribution and commitment to youth as coach, mentor and role model is unparalleled and filled with success.

Pam has volunteered and devoted countless hours of dedicated service.  She supported Wisconsin District projects including the phone campaign to re-enlist players to USTA play and membership.  She organized a USTA Block Party with over 90 participants.  She volunteered at the JTT District Championship in Appleton.

Pam has been honored as Wisconsin Tennis Association Volunteer of the Month.  She also received the esteemed 2007 Midwest Section Stanley Malless Award for distinguished service in the development of grass root tennis programs.

It is hard to believe that she has time to play tennis herself. Yet, Pam participates in a variety of adult leagues including Ladies 3.5, mixed doubles and tri-level, as captain, player and friend.

It is with great pleasure that we present the WTA Award to Pam Hammond.  Congratulations.
