The 2006 USTA/Midwest Section Senior Team Championships were held in Lansing, MI on May 19-21, 2006.  Men's and women's competitions were held in age categories from 35's to 80's.  Wisconsin fielded an entry in each age division except women's 75s.  11 of the 14 districts in the Midwest Section had team entries.  Wisconsin finished in 3rd place behind Northeastern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan.  Cool, but clear weather allowed all tournament matches to be completed as scheduled.  The Saturday night banquet provided much camaraderie between players from the 11 districts.

The 2006 USTA/Midwest Section Senior Team Championships brought 11 of the 14 Districts together to compete in Lansing, Michigan on May 19 – 21, 2006. Competition was held in the Women’s 35, 45, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75 divisions and in the Men’s 35, 45, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75 and 80 divisions.

Northeastern Ohio took first place scoring 566 district points. Southeastern Michigan finished in second place with 521 district points and Wisconsin placed third with 479 points.

Fun was had by all at the 2006 event. The weather cooperated, although it was cooler than normal for this time of year. All players received a t-shirt, banquet, lunch, and plenty of tennis action.

2004 Senior Team Champion Report May 26, 2004:

The Midwest Team Tennis Championships were held in Lansing, MI May 14-16.  The Wisconsin Team filled all age categories except 75 women.  Wisconsin finished 3rd (587 points) behind Southeastern Michigan (634 points) and Northeast Ohio (609 points).  In 2003 Wisconsin earned 385 points so this team is much improved and all participants thought it was much more fun to be in the running for the championship.

The 2003 event brought 11 of the 14 districts of the USTA Midwest section together in Lansing, Michigan May 16-18, 2003 to compete in the Senior Team championships.  The format of the tournament was a full round robin within each age division.  Competition ws held in the Women's 35, 45, 55, 60, 65, 70, and 75 age divisions ande the Men's 35, 34, 55, 60, 65, 75, and 80 age divisions.  Our Wisconsin team finished the fifth place with a total of 385 team points. The Wiscconsin women's team of Sherry Ploor and Rita Daniels were division winners in their age group.  Our congratulations go to Rita and Sherry on their outstanding victory and to our entire senior team that competed in Lansing, Michigan.
