Marshfield receives funds for new courts

May 18, 2006 12:48 PM

The City of Marshfield, WI has been awarded a grant from the USTA through the “Tennis in The Parks Public Facility Funding Program” in joint partnership with the National Recreation and Parks Association to help build eight (8) new tennis courts. The grant application was a community-wide effort between the Marshfield Community Tennis Association, Marshfield Parks and Recreation Department, Marshfield School District and local businesses.

A well organized community fund raising effort through “Tennis NOW”, the dedication of the community to “grow tennis” through a commitment to expanded tennis programs and well-defined tennis court construction plans were positive factors in being selected to receive the $52,750.00 grant.

Ground breaking for the new courts is scheduled for May 31, 2006 at 3:30PM at which time a check will be presented by Ms Erika Wentz of the USTA Midwest Section.
