SARA SCHUBRING NAMED USTA/MIDWEST SECTION JR. TEAM TENNIS COORDINATOR OF THE YEAR

October 13, 2007 12:18 AM

Indianapolis, In. --- Sara Schubring from Green Bay, Wisconsin, has been awarded the 2007 USTA/Midwest Section Jr. Team Tennis Coordinator of the Year honor.

The award is presented to an individual who delivers USTA Jr. Team Tennis to their community and embodies the true meaning of having a positive impact on children.

Schubring has played a pivotal role in the development and expansion of USTA Jr. Team Tennis in the Green Bay area.  As a member of the Brown County Community Tennis Association, she launched the Jr. Team Tennis program in 2005 with 14 teams in the 14-and-under and 18-and-under divisions.  In 2007, Schubring increased the program to include 20 teams consisting of 157 junior players.  Plans are already underway to add a new 10-and-under division next summer to introduce more juniors to tennis at a younger age.

Schubring oversees all the aspects of the program: prepares and distributes flyers;  secures and schedules courts for league play; coordinates volunteers to run sites; recruits teams to play; finds teams for individuals seeking a team; and tracks financial information.

“Sara has an incredible passion for bringing tennis to the lives of children in the Green Bay area,” stated USTA/Midwest Section Jr. Teams Coordinator Chad Docktor.  “She has done an outstanding job since starting the league in 2005.”

As the recipient of the USTA/Midwest Section award, Schubring has now been nominated for the 2007 USTA Janet Louer National Organizer of the Year Award.
