USTA Midwest Section Helen Shockley Sportsmanship Award

Caroline Starck, Williams Bay, was the recipient of the USTA Midwest Section Helen Shockley Sportsmanship Award at the USTA Midwest Section spring meeting, April 25 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

This award recognizes the outstanding 16 or 18 and under age division female player for the highest standards of tennis accomplishments, character, conduct, sportsmanship and amateurism.

At the USTA/Midwest Section level, Starck finished the 2008 year ranked No. 2 in the Wisconsin Tennis Association Girls’18 rankings. She was also ranked in the top 25 last year in the USTA/Midwest Section Girls’ 18 rankings. Starck has won numerous sportsmanship awards for her on-court conduct.

Starck captured 3 Wisconsin High School State Singles Championships in Division2. She has received the Wisconsin State Journal Female Tennis Player of the Year award. She has been named to the High School All-State Team 3 straight years.

Starck has competed 4 years for the Wisconsin Tennis Association in the USTA/Midwest Section District Team Cup events and Marian Wood Baird Cup. In 2008, she was named the USTA/Midwest Section Marian Wood Baird Cup Leanne Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award Recipient Starck also received the Wisconsin Tennis Association 2008 Frank Parker Award. In addition, Starck recently received the 2009 WIAA Scholar/Athlete Award, one of only 16 Wisconsin high school senior women to receive this honor.
