Wisconsin Junior Tennis Team to Compete at USTA National Championship

The Wisconsin Tennis Association announces the USTA Jr. Team Tennis champions from Green Bay and Fond du Lac that will be competing in the USTA National Jr. Team Tennis Championship. The National Championship will be held October 23-25 in Mobile, Alabama at the Mobile Tennis Center, known as the world’s largest public tennis facility with 60 outdoor clay courts. The National Championship Event will consist of 16 teams from throughout the country, representing every USTA Section including Hawaii.

2009 JTT Champions

To participate in the National Championship, each team must qualify through competition and success in their District and the USTA Midwest Section. The Wisconsin District Championship was held July 24-25 at the Nielson Tennis Stadium where the team qualified for the Midwest Section Tournament. Over 350 players from throughout the state participated in the District Championship.

The Challengers, having played together since they were 12 years old, won the USTA Midwest Section Championship, held in Indianapolis, Indiana, August 7-9. There were over 700 junior players from throughout the Midwest Section participating at the Sectional Championship in Indianapolis. The USTA Midwest Section is comprised of the 5 states of Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and Ohio.
