Powless, Mueller and Verfuerth honored for their world-class tennis accomplishments.

John Powless, Madison, has earned the #1 world ranking for Men’s 70s.  These International
Tennis Federation rankings reflect tournament play for the 12 month period ending June 30,
2004.

Barbara Mueller, Oconomowoc, has been named to the #1 position on the Alice Marble Cup
Team. The four-person team will represent the USA in the International Tennis Federation’s
Cup events in Philadelphia beginning September 13th. This 2004 event features the world’s
best grass court players.  Cup teams representing age categories 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, and 80s
will compete against teams from countries around the world.

Kaitlyn Verfuerth, 19, from Port Washington, has been named to the USA Paralympics Tennis Team. Kaitlyn joins 3 other women, 4 men, and 3 quads to compete in Athens beginning September 19th. Kaitlyn’s Wheelchair Tennis coaches are Jackie and Brian Egelhoff, Mequon.
