Mark your calendars for the District Championship to be played this year at the Fox Cities Racquet Club (FCRC) in Appleton on July 25th and 26th.  FCRC has 8 indoor, air conditioned courts, and 4 outdoor courts.  The following age groups will play on these dates:

• July 25
 12 Intermediate
 12 Advanced
 14 Intermediate
• July 26
 14 Advanced
 18 Intermediate
 18 Advanced

Last year, 296 kids on 36 teams participated in the District Championships.  The goal this year is for over 300 kids.  FCRC offers one of the finest facilities around, and is devoted entirely to tennis.  If you have participated in prior years then you know that the heat can be overwhelming at times, and the air-conditioned indoor courts can provide a relief from the sometimes intense heat of the summer.  We expect a great turn out for the District Championships, and FCRC provides an optimal environment for a fun, competitive two days of tennis for the kids.

I am excited about taking over as District League Coordinator succeeding John Frausto.  I want to thank John for his contributions to Junior Team Tennis, his help in making it a smooth transition, and look forward to growing JTT in the State of Wisconsin.

One of the goals with JTT is to expand the game of tennis to more of our youth.  A way to do that is with a new program called Quickstart which is for those kids age 10 and under.  It is an exciting, new way for young beginning players to learn the game of tennis.  A few things have changed to make it easier for them.  The court size, racquet size, balls, scoring, serve, and even the net height have been adjusted.  In addition, kids as young as 5 years old can start playing tennis.  Quickstart stresses the importance of play and team competition, but most importantly FUN!  We are looking for lots of new players to start out in this program in many areas of the state.  If your community has interest in the program then please contact me for help in getting it started.

Mark your calendar with these important JTT dates:

July 25-26 JTT District Championship
August 8-10 JTT Sectional Championship
