US Open National Playoffs Day 1


Mo Egger is the afternoon host on ESPN 1530 and is also heard on 700 WLW.  Lindsay Patterson is the show’s producer on both ESPN 1530 and 700 WLW. Both participants took tennis lessons leading up to the event at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Cincinnati with Tennis Professional Matt Dektas. Prince Sports has supplied the duo with new tennis racquets.  Mo and Lindsay brought their game face.




DSC_2832Bianca Moldovan, from Livonia, Mich., arrived ready to play after winning the USTA/Midwest Section Junior Closed Outdoor Championships on Thursday.  "I just want to play my game and play my best. I am ready."  She won the Girls 18 singles title at the USTA National Open held last month.




James Steven, from Sylvania, Ohio played on his high school and as a recent graduate, "I just wanted to come out here for the experience."  He will play club tennis at school this fall and admitted that today, "I felt a little nervous."  He brought his parents for support.






DSC_2805Alijah Niang Kabah, originally from Senegal now resides in Farmington Hills, Mich., and has played tennis for six years.  "I just picked it up.  I will see if I can beat some of these guys." He plays league tennis and was expecting all college players at the Playoffs.  He said,  "I am impressed to see some 9 to 5ers like me!" Chris Essick from Fishers, Ind., was the college player who took him down in the first round.  Essick will play for Indiana University starting this fall.
